There are two types of home insurance policies, Buildings Insurance covers such things as damage or loss caused for example by Fire or Subsidence. In essence it covers damage to the structure of your home. The other is Contents Insurance which provides cover for your household possessions. It is almost always more cost effective to purchase both types of cover under one policy.
